Only one place to start, Super Saturday and the day’s Cat One decider, the TRC Health & Hygiene Blue Riband Final won by Kilara Lion – that’s three Cat One finals – three wins for Patrick Janssens’ star.

Earlier in the day there were some flying performances over all distances at Crayford, but in the event that matters most, it was Peter Harnden’s Salacres Pippy who set the standard.

Later in the day, the star of a high quality Monmore card was Graham Rankin’s puppy Jaguar Macie with a 28.33 (-30) run – a performance that can best be judged against the wins of Queen Jessiej (28.38) and Tenpin (28.51).

While Affirmed’s superb win to beat Aayamza Royale just misses out at Towcester, completing a four-timer, the Pat Doocey runner can rightly be acclaimed for his 44.80 over Nottingam’s 730 on Monday – the fastest run by any hound in two years.

On Friday night. Shrewd Call showed he is back to his best with a very decent sprint win at Romford, his 13.31 winning time was the fastest over course and distance in the last year. Although not the fastest run of the week, Andrew Wood’s puppy Rockmount Dizzee get the nod for a puppy open win at Newcastle. With Pat Flaherty also pitching in, it is a great testament to the resilience of the trainers from north of the Border.

The final nomination of the week comes from the Swindon Sunday night card where Seomra Razzle produced the week’s best middle distance time in a 476m open. The Central Park open race meeting was cancelled leaving its selection to the week’s top A1 winner Distant Bolt.

Earlier in the day, Gartcloss Mo landed a very stiff A1 at Pelaw Grange beating last week’s nominated runner Jaguar Fury.

The Doncaster selection looked to be heading to Sean Parker’s Zero O Eight after another impressive win in B2, until he was turned over by kennelmate Cloudyandbright. Harlow’s best run came in an A5 where Treaty Jet dominated by seven lengths.

Corona Lady has been one a regular among the Kinsley nominations in the last three months, this week though we are looking at her litter brother Caseys Jetsam for a 27.76 win at Henlow. On the subject of Kinsley, they staged a particularly hot A2 on Sunday where British Breeders semi finalist Acomb Hugo was well fancied, but he was left to follow home the impressive Pantone Jones.

Last week there were 41 spots between the top 500 metre times at Hove (29.49) and Sheffield (29.08). Sullys Bullet’s 29.48 was the best run on the South Coast this week, while Dingle Pub clocked 29.02 at Owlerton.

If we weren’t looking for the Performer of the Week but the Performer of 2021 (so far), Sunderland’s Toems Storm would have to be in the running. He has won his last four (including one in December) and boasts a career record of six wins from eight races.

Not far behind would be Perry Barr’s Whizzing Jenny with four wins from her last six races including the run of the week, 28.85 (-20).

Finally Yarmouth’s Swift Cope won an A1 on February 1 in a calculated 27.94. But that was last year. This February 1, his A1 winning time was a calculated 28.00
