Sprinters Jimmy Lollie and Target Harris, the joint sprint record holders at Hove, head the list for the fastest MPH performances in Britain.

With British tracks measured slightly different to Ireland (as explained by Tony Smith), three runners have broken the 40 miles per hour barrier as Hove and Sheffield dominate the top of the speed charts.

The most surprising aspect of the chart though, is possibly the positioning of Domino Storm at fourth on the table and the quickest of the middle distance runners. It is also perhaps worth noting that the majority of the faster Hove times were recorded when the running surface (or timing mechanism?) was producing generally faster times.

Readers may spot a number of interesting comparisons between the UK and Irish times including Flashing Willow whose Towcester sprint record was recorded at 39.16 miles per hour where his Tralee sprint record was ‘a mere’ 38.80.
