The son of Ballymac Vic flew out and was left clear when Maum Legend checked off wide.
Newinn Yolo, now 25-1 for the Derby, was left in second and tried his best to close the four length gap but the line came in time for the winner who scored by a short head in 28.39sec.
Cahill said afterwards: “Brogan has got great early foot and got away from them tonight. He’s the youngest dog in the race and has been running well around here for a few weeks. He’s only had nine races in his life and could be anything. We think he’s a proper dog.”
See No Gamble landed the opening Puppy race at 7.11
Patrick Janseens’s runner showed great pace to the turn and went clear, eventually beating Swift Carter by four lengths in 28.90sec.
Janssens said afterwards: “The dog initially struggled when we took him away from Towcester but he gradually got used to these different tracks and equipment and looks a good prospect.”
Swift Keith was an impressive winner of the Standard Division Two over 480 metres and is now 50-1 with Hills for the Derby.
John Mullins’ Yarmouth Derby winner flew out and made all to slam Ballygibbon King by almost three lengths in 28.35sec.
Mullins said afterwards: “The dog had done some good sprint trials at Sittingbourne but I still thought he may need the run.
“He did it well and will be part of my Trainers Championship team at Sittingbourne.”
Arc winner King Dec was a trap to line winner of the top division. Liz McNair’s runner was soon well clear and went on to hold the running on Droopys Jarrow by five lengths in 28.42sec. He is also 50-1 for the English Derby with Hills.
Assistant trainer: Rab McNair said afterwards: “He goes well fresh and we fancied him. He’ll go back to Swindon and defend his Arc title.”
Paul Young’s 2013 Puppy Derby winner Bubbly Beauty was a trap to line winner of heat three in 28.66sec.
Jaytee China and Forest Sara had a great buckle in the William Hill Ladies at 7.43.
The pair had the race between them from the opening bend and the lead changed hands a few times before Jaytee China stuck her head in front where it mattered and scored by a head in 28.60sec.
Trainer Paul Young said afterwards: “It was a great race for Sky viewers and good to come out on top. She’s one of the top three bitches in the land and will be in my team at Sittingbourne.
Market Heights landed the marathon over 894 metres. Jason Foster’s runner was led to the last turn by favourite Bubbly Time and he went on to beat Musical Fawn by a length in 56.54sec.
Foster said afterwards: “He’s an improving dog and hopefully will contest all the main staying races this year.”
Vanrooney came from last to first to land the Stayers contest over 687 metres.
The favourite was stone last out of traps as Chicago cut out the running. Teejayspowerhawk took over the lead at the third turn but the petrol ran out coming round the final turn and in a blanket finish, Vanrooney got up close home to score by three quarters of a length in 42.39sec.
Trainer Mark Wallis said: “It was a great performance and is running out of his skin. I expected him to be right up there but he certainly showed his class to win like that.”
