“Well it’s competitive isn’t it?” suggested Kevin Masters from the Hove Racing Office as he surveyed next Thursday’s Coral Brighton Belle Final.
The historic competition boasts an exceptional roll of honour (see below) and with only nine spots separating the quickest three qualifiers, Masters reckons trap draw, as much as ability, might prove the crucial edge in the £2,500 decider.
He said: “I think the draw definitely favours Galloping Moon in trap six. Though I was a little surprised that once she hit the front, she didn’t then pull away to win it. On the inside, I think Comeoneyoubees would have been much better off in trap one. But as I said, there is little between them.”
