Yarmouth were oversubscribed by nine runners for the 48 runner Bresbet 76th East Anglian Derby. None of which should have come as a huge surprise given the comparative proximity in Norfolk/Suffolk of the Wallis, Janssens and John Mullins kennel (all previous winners of the event), plus the powerful local strength who regularly raid opens at Romford and Towcester.
With last year’s winner Antigua Storm now retired, Lakenheath based Mark Wallis has sent along a team of five with Hopes Paddington looking for a double for Amanda Jeal.
However there will be few runners attracting more interest than the expensive Irish purchase Coolavanny Shado whose trials to date have been sizzling. However the hotpot faces a serious test in the shape of the brilliant local runner Zara Rosie whose recent trial form suggests a tough early challenge for the Janssens runner.
