With two runners in every race, Sittingbourne duly won their home leg of the BAGS/SIS Track Championship, though the winning margin was small enough to keep the southern section wide open.
The meeting started off on a positive note with a 1-2 for the locals thanks to Designer Cee and Gubu, but they would have only one more winner, Frank Gray’s Barnfield Bear.
But doubles for Crayford and Romford saw both tracks consolidate their positions.
Sittingbourne’s final points tally of 70, was the second lowest for a home team; that dubious honour went to Hove who only scored 65. The day’s other scores were 37-Romford, 31-Crayford, 19-Hove and 11-Wimbledon
With the Wimbledon leg still to go, the aggregate scores are: 167-Sittingbourne, 163-Romford, 155-Crayford, 134-Hove, 51-Wimbledon
