Droopys Bomber set the standard in the second round heats of the Gain Dog Food Irish Cesarewitch over 600 yards at Mullingar on Saturday.
Fraser Black’s runner tracked the pace-making Highview Thady around the opening turns before hitting the front approaching the third turn.
He went on to score by a length in 33.57sec.
Con Foley’s Crompaun Jamesy was almost as impressive when taking the third eliminator.
The son of College Causeway tracked the pace-making Coolronan Bigmac until opening up at halfway to score by four and a half lengths in 33.65sec.
Paradise Maverick took advantage of plenty of trouble to land the third qualifier. Pat Buckley’s runner was stone last on the approach to the first turn and got a bump himself but flew around the outside to lead on the second turn and score by ten lengths from Dees Prince in 33.87sec.
Larry Mason’s Native Hut came late in the last qualifier to score a two length victory over Superior Star in 33.84sec.
The semi-finals are next Saturday.
