Bockos Doomie made it nine wins from 13 races in the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Kent Derby over 480 metres at Central Park.
Patrick Janssens’ dog running from a perfect pitch on the inside rail was led for the first 50 yards by Lenson John before going into a clear lead.
He was five lengths clear at halfway but came back slightly to the field to beat the renewed challenge of Lenson John by two lengths in 28.82sec.
Winning owner Graham Box said: “The dog came back to the field a little but has only just turned two and I think will get stronger with age. That was only his second race back from a break and is going the right way.
“He is very useful and apart from getting beaten a few times at Nottingham, he has won every other race he’s contested at several other tracks.
“We have got trap three in the final, which isn’t ideal but if he can get a clear run to the bend I think he’ll go very close.”
Fastest semi-final winner was Fayes Jet, who landed the opening semi-final.
Stuart Maplesden’s runner made it four wins from his last five races when leading all of the way to beat Camps Star by five lengths in 28.76sec.
The favourite Fitenwell missed the break and was eliminated.
Ballymac Osby landed the second qualifier. Kevin Hutton’s runner, the 2-1 favourite, showed good early pace to lead from the opening turn and eventually hold the late flourish of Forest Alan by almost two lengths in 29.25sec.
