Bubbly Bluebird put himself into an unassailable position to take the 2016 Greyhound of the Year title with victory in the Kent Derby at Central Park.
The race went like this with Bluebird running from T3 at 5-4f. The others were Kranky Damo (T1 10-1), Barricane Tiger (T2 5-1), Jaytee Spartacus (T4 6-1), Droopys Who (T5 7-2) and Makeit Bigtime (T6 16-1).
The winner’s time was 28.87 and the distance, three lengths.
With two ‘Cat 1’ and two ‘Cat 2s’ already under his belt, and big events running out, the betting would surely be suspended on the 2016 Greyhound of the Year award. His closest challenger is probably the dual Cat 1 winner Patchys Kerry, though she would probably need to win the St.Leger to force a result.
