Bills Heartbeat went unbeaten through the Betfred Standard Trophy when landing the final over 500 metres at Nottingham on Monday.
Carol Evans’ runner, who had beaten the favourite Mottos Mixer in the heats, was soon in front and went on to beat his old rival by two lengths in 29.95sec.
Carol Evan’s runner has now won three of his last five races including a fast 28.33sec in an A1 on home soil at Perry Barr last month.
Mottos Mixer’s trainer Charlie Lister had better luck in the supporting sprint races with Coolavanny Grace and Sidarian Bullet.
Coolvanny Grace led from the opening turn in the second division to beat Fridays Hondo in 17.97sec.
Sidarian Bullet was soon clear in the top division to hold Leos Dakota by just over a length in a faster 17.79sec.
