Saturday’s card at Towcester, featuring the semi finals of the Star Sports Greyhound Derby and the Derby Plate is surely the best selection of open racing we have been blessed with this year writes Floyd Amphlett.
It kicks off with the Star Sports Champion Hurdle where the Ricky Holloway aces Sober Call and Razldazl Raidio are split – though the latter still has to take on his big race adversary, Ballymac Manix.
What can you say about the stayers heats? Rubys Rascal and fellow group one winning kennelmate Ferryforth Fran. Russalena Reggie back to his Golden Jacket form, Cloran Paddy back over six bends, TV Trophy winner Borna Mindy. Two potential Irish stayers of great quality in Slippery Louise and Frankies Lady who was only three quarters of a length outside the track record in a trial. Oh, yes, and a rather special stayer called Aayamza Breeze.
The sprint? You name them. Ela Ela Genie, Walk The Talk, Rahivira River, Shlowdown Sally, Westway Gaga, Jumeirah Maximus to name but six
The British Bred race sees the return to open racing after a year away of the exceptional Mossvale Ace. There’s King Eden, Bang On Giles and Thinkingofdarcy back over four bends and a brilliant trial at Yarmouth
What a night in store
