Following a number of meetings last week with our legal and professional team, we are confident that our campaign is as strong as ever. Our lawyer and Transport Consultant have identified a number of issues in the Applicant’s recent submissions and we have made further representations to rebut many of their statements. The Applicant has attempted to convince the Planning Committee that Belle Vue only races on a Saturday to the public and as it is underused and should be redeveloped. We have proved beyond doubt that we are viable and my thanks go to BAGS for writing a letter of support which clearly demonstrates that Greyhound Racing is a global betting product and Belle Vue is part of that market.
We have to thank all those who have stuck with us through this campaign, we have a great set of owners and trainers and they are still buying dogs and keeping the show on the road and particularly at a time when there has been an unwelcomed cut in prize money, another widespread effect of betting shop closures.
We now wait until August 6th to see if the Planning Committee will hear the application on August 22nd . Our continued thanks go to Startrax Motor Racing for their continued support.
