Julie Bateson had a couple of promising runs from her racers in Tuesday’s trial session at Belle Vue.

General Sherman, who has not had the best of luck since winning a trial stakes for the Puppy Classic at Nottingham on his UK debut in August, produced the fastest time in the sprint section posting a calculated 15.21 (-10) for the 260 metres, while kennelmate Allowdale Blue was not far behind with a 15.43.

That will be particularly good news for the Lancaster-based open trainer with the start of the ECC Laurels just a few weeks away.

Charlie Lister will launch Tyrur Caroline’s UK career in Manchester on Saturday in a bitches open in a bitches’ only open.

Unsuccessful in two efforts at Shelbourne Park in Dublin in August, she recently ran a couple of impressive trials over Belle Vue’s 470 metres, including a 27.61 run, and has drawn trap two on her debut for her new handler.

The bitch, a September 2013 daughter of Larkhill Jo and Tyrur Fergie, is owned by PJ Fahy, whose business ECC Timber is sponsoring The Oaks, which starts at the track on November 18.
