It is our understanding that racing has been suspended at Belle Vue with immediate effect.
While still waiting for clarification from ARC, we understand that local trainers have been informed that the cessation of racing is a financial decision.
With high rent, and reduced income from the betting industry, the track will remain closed until spectators can return.
However, the Star understands that several trainers are already considering moving to other venues and the long term future for the stadium is far from certain.
Belle Vue had been scheduled to stage three meetings per week. It is unclear how they will be re-designated.
