There was a three figure turn-out for last week’s Belle Vue Owners Awards Presentation Evening which was organised by Alan Kershaw and Keith Thornton.

The Dog of the Year award went to the amazing and versatile After Milo (Westmead Hawk-Little Impulse, Sep 11), owned by Mr JS Heelham and trained by Joy Andrews. Not only did Milo win 15 of his 37 races, he did so over 470m, 590m, 670m and hurdles.

Marys Magic (Kinloch Brae-Karma Peaches, Apr 12) owned by the TTR Syndicate and trained by June McCombe began the year in A4 and won 13 of her 35 races including A2, S1 and an open.

Mill Mon Amie (Kinloch Brae-Big Ronda, Nov 12) owned by Mr D Spivey and trained by Paul Gregson won 13 of her 41 races including A2, S1 and opens. She even contested a marathon open.

Other awards included the Trainer of the Year award for Bev Heaton, the Trainer of the Year (by percentages), June McCombe. The litter of the year were Jill Llewellin’s bunch by Montos Mark out of Wise Story with 69 victories between them. Veteran of the Year was the same kennel’s Grandads Rifle.

The presentations were made by the special guest, the TV personality Dr Chris Steele.
