Perry Barr’s BAGS Track Championship squad has gradually been coming together over the last couple of weeks and we will be organising trials at Towcester very shortly states racing manager Martin Seal.
He said: “Heading the team is Ian Walker’s Airport Jumbo who has been setting the standard for a couple of months now, winning five of his last seven A1’s, all in very decent times. He is in superb nick at present. Backing him up are Dave Hunt’s Sawpit Sunshine and Ian Bradford’s early paced Amber Echo.
“John Lambe’s Princess In Rags and John Henry Smith’s Ballymac Beauty are both bitch puppies with a lot of ability, whilst Barry Denby’s pair of Jaques Court and Whatta Hanlin will likely compete for the sprint race berth alongside Carla Hendy’s Terminal Three. The staying division currently rests between Barry Denby’s stout stayer Droops Calling and Phil Naylor’s Pretty Diva, who picked up a maiden stayers open at the track earlier in the month.”
“It’s probably as tough a division as we could’ve expected, but all the team are running at the top of their game right now, so we will be giving the competition our best shot, as usual. Deputy RM Dan Bradshaw will be co-ordinating trial and running plans on behalf of the track.”
Produce Stakes hero Bansha Rooskey made a winning debut at home track Perry Barr on Friday – despite losing nearly nine lengths on trial form. In a messy 480m open, Dave Acott’s was bumped early before leading off the second bend and going on to win by two and a half lengths in 29.45. He had trialled a week earlier in 28.76.
