British Breeders Stakes winner Badabing was bred by Cheryl Janssens from a litter of five pups by the American import and champion sire Kinloch Brae out of Ardrine Lunar (Ballymac Maeve-Star Of Dromin) – writes Floyd Amphlett.

The litter includes open winners Meadow and Whatugonnado. Another brother clocked 28.79 when qualifying as a 16 month old pup at Towcester and was terminally, though not fatally, injured after one race.

Their dam, formerly known as Mountjoy Moon, only raced eight times before being disqualified for fighting at Sittingbourne. She had previously clocked a truly astonishing 28.08 (TR 28.02) for 480m at Hall Green when still a pup.

The thin line between aggression and determination is well known by breeders who have often recognised that the benefits frequently outweigh the risks.

It was certainly acknowledged by Norfolk breeder Ian Pooley a few years ago when he took a litter out of the twice disqualified Lovely Lovely and produced one of the fastest greyhounds of the last 30 years, Blue Murlen.
