Make No Apologie added to his win in the Seasons Scaffolding Puppy Trophy by landing the Ryan Holmes Puppy Cup Final at Sheffield on Tuesday.

The result represented the 100th open race victory for the Jabber Crew, a syndicate of five husbands and wives, four of whom were at Sheffield for the memorable event. The fifth, Adam Duncan, is due to retrial after a period of lameness, and watched the race on TV.
He said: “We’ve had a great run with nine Cat One finalists, of which we have won two, plus a string of Cat Twos and Threes. Many people assume that we must be a much bigger syndicate but we have just been lucky enough to have some very good dogs.”
One of the best was Lowther Stakes winner Donation who gave birth to six pups by Pat C Sabbath a couple of weeks ago.
The syndicate’s current star Stardom was withdrawn from the Night Of Stars at Shelbourne on Saturday with the expectation of contesting the Oaks at Swindon but now seems unlikely to be able to contest either after being deemed a double entry by GBGB.
