Richard Devenish’s Tea For Tess (Head Bound-Millisupreme, Sep 15) saw off sisters Droopys Shona and Clairkeith Ayana to land the BGBF Puppy Oaks Final on Friday night.
The 7-2 chance going for a five-timer, cracked away pursued by Jason Heath’s Shona who put in a flying middle section of the race only to check and lose her chance. The winner crossed the line some £4,000 richer in 24.10.
It was only the seventh race of Tess’s career. Any punter who had placed £10 on her in each of her races would be £98 in profit.
The meeting also featured a tenth open race victory (16 races) in 2017 for Calco Flyer – the country’s leading open race winner.
