Phil Simmonds’ black recorded 17.57 on New Years Day – a time only bettered by Troys Bella (17.56), but snatched back the landmark with a 17.55 victory over Total Commitment.
It was Adam’s sixth win from 10 outings over course and distance and the Romford raider looks capable of reproducing his best form at his home venue where he has two 23.70 runs for the standard.
The win pushed Simmonds onto 14 wins for the year at Colwick Park though Pat Rosney cut into that lead with a fine double of his own.
Azzurri Genesis (Superior Product-Swift Foundry, May 15) stretched his unbeaten record over course and distance to four with a 28.89 (+30) victory. Kennelmate Swift Bethany (Makeshift-Swift Pacquiao, Sep 15) extended her recent winning run to 5/6 in 29.38 (480).
The track’s most prolific winner in 2018, Tyrur Hugo was unable to add to his six victories when turned over by La Soldado (30.06 +30) in the 500m last race on the card.
