Layout 1Lenson Rocky is one of two sons of Droopys Scolari in the final. Amazingly, for a dog who has been champion sire three times, Scolari has only produced one previous finalist in Bittles Bar. Rocky’s littermates include Alfies Diamond (28.49 Shel.Pk) and Swindon open winner Castledale Magic. The dam line is nothing if not diverse. There is plenty of stamina through dam Momentinnewyork who was a Corn Cuchulainn finalist. Her dam won a Tote Gold Collar and reached finals of an Easter Cup and Guinness 600. Real Revenge was bred in Australia and raced in Sweden while further along the dam line we find Johnny Luby’s Irish coursing breeding through Shongum Flavour

Layout 1Cloran Paddy is a son of Westmead Hawk who has an incredible record in the event having won it twice, sired two winners in Sidaz Jack and Taylors Sky, plus runner-up Droopys Ward and finalists Eden The Kid and Mind The Net. Paddy’s littermates include Martinstown Hawk (28.45 Shel.Pk). Their dam won 10 of her 17 races and had 28.55 winning form at Shelbourne Park. Rose is a litter sister to Irish Oaks finalist Cool It Baby. They are by the beaten favourite in the ’03 Derby Final Top Savings, from one of Ireland’s toughest tracking dam lines that has produced the likes of Kilmessan Jet and Melodys Royal.

Layout 1Droopys Roddick is from one of the first litters sired by the dog who finished fifth (7-4f) in the 2013 Derby Final – and some litter it is too! It features open winning ‘Droopys’ Achieve, Admire, Astorish, and Awesome, plus Swabys Norah and Young Jet. Unfortunately, sisters Admire and Ambition have since had theirs cards marked. In a previous litter by Ace Hi Rumble, the dam threw Billys Bullet, Market Heights and Touch Tackle. Dam Start, who won over Hove’s 695 metres for Dean Childs is another daughter of Westmead Hawk out of the 2005 English Oaks winner Droopys Stacey. Roberta is a sister to the disqualified Derby winner Droopys Hewitt.

Layout 1Peregrine Falcon will be looking to land a second consecutive Derby for the deceased Ace Hi Rumble. He is a litter brother to the 28.46 Dundalk winner Knight Invader. Falcon is interestingly bred being a 3 x 3 grandson of Sobbing Sal. Minefield won a third of her 24 races, clocked 28.86 for 525 at Thurles and reached a Newbridge Oaks decider. Casino was a 28.54 winner at Shelbourne and litter sister to Droopys Scolari. Little Diamond UK, as her name implies, was British bred and was yet another hound in these pedigrees to have spent some of her career with Nick Savva. Her dam Camelot Katie was a litter sister to English Derby winner Shanless Slippy.

Layout 1Hiya Butt is by that most durable of all sires, Hondo Black. The American import really did throw for all distances. His Derby finalists include Making Paper, Kincraig Rory and Farloe Trent. For those who questioned whether the early paced dog had the breeding to take three runs in a week, look no further than his dam line. Hather For Pat, top class over three distances and a 28.40 winner around Lifford, had previously thrown Drumbo Gold Cup runner-up Atitboy.  She is a sister to Olympic runner-up Magna Venturer, but when her dam was crossed with Hondo Black she produced the hard-as-nails Three Steps To Victory winner Hather George. Culmore Gift won a Lifford Oaks, and if you trace the dam line back far enough, they are the same Northern Irish roots that produced Derby winner Farloe Melody.

Layout 1Jaytee Jet possesses more stamina than the average Scolari pup – excluding those out of Flying Winner. Jet’s litter includes Jaytee Dutch, and 28.46 Wimbledon winner Genuine Deejay. In a previous litter by College Causeway, their dam threw Munster Oaks winner Maddies Dream and there are some flying pups out of the Oct’14 batch by Tullymurry Act. Gook won 10 races and had 29.00 on her card at Clonmel. She is by Irish Derby winner Razldazl Billy out of dam line that has been reasonably quiet in recent generations but ultimately traces back to Irish Oaks winner Cool Survivor.
