Second favourite Droopys Roddick recorded his best ever sectional at Limerick (1.21). 9-4 favourite Clare Rocket produced his joint worst (1.35) and the €80,000 first prize for the Kirby Memorial was snatched by Pat Buckley amd his English Derby ante post favourite.
The race was effectively over after Roddick bolted clear from four with 20-1 chance Riverside Oscar in second place. Given their running styles, Oscar was never going to catch the leader and unbeaten Roddick (Droopys Jet-Droopys Start, Apr 14) prevailed by eight lengths in the second fastest time of the event, 28.09.
