Joe’s Tuesday Bets

***7.06 Central Park – Glenhead Tom 4/5 (3pts)
**7.22 Central Park – Bit View Dusty 9/4 (2 pts)
*8.13 Central Park – Rosstemple Davey 9/4 (1 pt)
Three graded selections at Central Park this evening.
The Nap for the evening is trap six Glenhead Tom in the 491m handicap at 7.06pm. Glenhead Tom is giving away 15 metres to trap one Stophers Dorito but the handicap format can hopefully get Glenhead Tom a clear run. He has shown in races the pace he possesses but failed to pick up a victory, however connections have given him a solo trial where he whizzed round in 29.14 so although 15 metres is a big advantage to claw back, Glenhead Tom if gaining a clear run can pick up his first victory at Central Park.
The next best of the evening runs in the D2 at 7.22pm. Trap Two Bit View Dusty is new to the track having switched from Romford and been well fancied on his first two starts going off 10/11 favourite on both occasions. However he is yet to pick up his first Central Park victory but can do so tonight with a clean getaway from the blue box. He was a length and a half behind Dreamin Trick last week when second and third to Headford Maiden but I would expect him to reverse that form tonight and pick up a first Central Park victory at the third time of asking.
The third bet of the evening is trap six Rosstemple Davey in the D1 at 8.13pm. Dropped back to two bends recently with two defeats in an open race and D1, Rosstemple Davey looks drawn to go well this evening in a five dog affair. He needs to avoid Nah Then Babbi on the run to the bend and if getting to the first bend in a good position, he can drive the two bends to be in a winning position coming for home with Headford Maiden the main danger to Rosstemple Davey.

Plunge leads the way into super semi

WICKY NED is now clear favourite for the Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse after producing a stylish performance in winning his heat of the famous competition over 500m at Nottingham on Monday – albeit fastest heat winner was Patrick Janssens’ exciting talent Droopys Plunge.

Janssens’ November 22 whelp clocked a brilliantly fast 29.16 as he led home kennelmate Barntick Bear for a Janssens-trained one-two, in a heat which also saw defending champion Newinn Syd recover well after early crowding to finish third and keep a grip on the trophy he won 12 months ago.

Droopys Plunge had won well on Oaks final night at Perry Barr, impressing all and sundry with his back-straight surge. However, this time a fast start and smart early gears saw the son of Droopys Sydney dominate from pillar to post with Barntick Bear never close enough to launch a telling challenge after being held up early.

However, Wicky Ned remains the one to beat in the Eclipse according to the bookmakers after Jimmy Fenwick’s Gymcrack and Steel City Cup winner made all in heat three to himself post an impressive 29.35 for the 500m trip as he beat David Fradgley’s Stonepark Wes by just over four lengths.

Patrick Janssens will have six Eclipse semi-finalists next Monday after his Romeo Steel (29.55) won heat two from Phil Milner’s Empress Stakes winner Avongate Venus – after the winner’s kennelmates Romeo Command and Slick Sentinel qualified behind Mark Wallis’s Proper Heiress in a classy heat four.

The winner, who posted 29.68sec, finished best after early crowding to enhance his growing reputation.

Velvet Madrid has been producing some good performances of late for Nottingham’s own Peter Holland and was never headed in beating trackmate Sambar Kian in 29.90sec in heat five.

Kevin Hutton’s Antigua Kestrel had earlier produced a strong-running effort to grab Salacres Tipster in heat one, winning in 29.55sec.
