An excellent final awaits with the exceptional Druids Say Go on the verge of making it two category one titles in two months. She went unbeaten through the Click Competitions East Anglian Derby at Yarmouth last month and is now looking to make it a seven timer in cat one races by going four rounds unbeaten through this prestigious event.
T1 – Chamberlain Kate – Carol Weatherall – Mr D Holmes & Mr D Sutton
Chamberlain Kate is a lightly raced type for Carol Weatherall. She qualified in third place behind Icemans Girl in the semi final. Prior to that she had won her first round heat holding on gamely before a third placed finish behind Distant Cara in the second round. She is the 25/1 outsider for the final but has the ideal draw in trap one if things do not go to plan for others at the first bend. Chamberlain Kate could use the draw to her advantage to sneak round and make a race of it.
T2 – Druids Say Go – Patrick Janssens – Value Racing Club
The aforementioned Druids Say Go is a 4/9 top price to land the spoils this evening. As mentioned above she is going for a seven timer in category one races and if doing things right from the traps she is going to be extremely difficult to beat. Three consecutive runs under the 28.00 barrier just shows what fantastic form Druids Say Go is in at present. A level break sees her deservedly victorious.
T3 – Icemans Girl – Nathan Hunt – Mr G S Price
Icemans girl is going from strength to strength in her racing career. She was second to Avongate Venus in the Empress Stakes at Towcester before heading to Perry Barr. A gutsy first round victory set her on her way to run a huge race in defeat behind Queen Joni in round two. She won her semi-final when unfortunately for all Queen Joni went lame.
She is the 7/2 second favourite to get the better of the field here. Her heart of a lion approach to racing sees her in with a huge chance should mistakes be made by others.
T4 – Droopys Eunice – Maxine Locke – JR Racing Syndicate
Droopys Eunice is trying to make it fifth time lucky in category one finals in 2024. A season at the end of May has changed her running style, making her a much stronger runner. The draw is far from ideal but she is in a trap that could see her trap smartly and find herself in a prominent position coming out the second bend.
A second round and semi-final defeat behind Druids Say Go has to be overturned. That could be difficult if the favourite does it right but Droopys Eunice has been a fantastically consistent bitch for connections. With a slice of luck she can pick up that category one competition she thoroughly deserves and is a 10/1 chance to do so.
T5 – Front Alice – Kevin Proctor – Mr K R Proctor
Kevin Proctor’s bitch is contesting her second big race final of the year. She won the Coral Golden Sprint at Romford back in March, getting the better of Druids Say Go in the process. She is yet to show her true colours in this competition so massive credit goes to her for making the final and she looks well drawn.
Droopys Eunice in trap four will be moving towards the rail so if Front Alice can trap and show her early pace, she could be well housed to go well. Although available at 20/1, she is a big race winner and that price could be big.
T6 – Coppice Ella – Kevin Hutton – Mr A W Brealey
Coppice Ella is one of the most consistent bitches in training. Again, massive credit to Coppice Ella who has made another final at a track that she hasn’t really taken to. Being a wide seed who stays well, she will always give herself a chance to finish in the first three and that is exactly what she has done with three third-place finishes.
It is hard to rule her out of a place and is as big as 12/1 to win the final. This could be her last four bend run for a while with plans to step her up in trip.
Conclusion
Overall, it is extremely difficult to get away from Druids Say Go who if breaking on terms will win the final. She is in the form of her life and has shown that she can do it from any trap. A level break will see her pick up her second big prize in the space of six weeks.
Icemans Girl could fly the traps and turn handy but it would take some run to catch Druids Say Go. Coppice Ella can keep herself to herself out wide to finish third again. Chamberlain Kate and Front Alice need to find themselves in front off the second bend to give themselves a chance. Droopys Eunice will be looking to cheat the draw and try get a run but, it’s all about Druids Say Go.
