Gary Wiltshire guests on the latest edition of the Gone To The Dogs podcast with Dani Jackson and Joe Conneely – and it’s a brilliant listen!
The legendary bookmaker talks about his early days in greyhound racing, starting out as a kennelhand at the GRA’s Northaw complex, through to ‘Dettori Day’ at Ascot in September 28, 1996, when Frankie rode all seven winners – and Gary lost it all.
GTTD podcast host Dani Jackson said: “I think we all know the story of Dettori Day and probably some of Gary’s lifestory – but I didn’t know all of it, and Gary’s take is sensational. It’s emotional, enlightening and just a very good listen.
“He tells us things on the pod that no-one has heard before – and I reckon there’s another round of after-dinner speaking engagements ahead when people hear it! His new book will also make a great read – but this pod gives us a real snapshot of his life.
“It’s quite fascinating actually. Greyhound fans will love his reminiscences of places like White City and the other major London tracks, and the trainers involved, but also how he came back from nothing and those who helped him – and those who didn’t!
“He’s also really energised for the future being part of the Gone To The Dogs – Live! team and is enjoying being part of a new double act with our own Joe Conneely.”
Gary Wiltshire and Joe Conneely will be teaming up again at Nottingham on Monday, November 25 when the GTTD cameras will at Colwick Park for the £20,000 Premier Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse Final.
The three hour plus-show will be the third broadcast for the team after Yarmouth for the Click Competitions East Anglian Derby Final, won by Druids Say Go, and the recent Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes Final at Romford, won by New Destiny.
