Successful Towcester Sale

The recent Greyhound Trader Towcester ‘Puppy Derby’ Sales looks to yet again have provided some exciting talent to the UK shores with 28 greyhounds sold for a total of just over £64,000.

Top lot on the day was Racenight Mikey who sold for £10,000. An April 2023 son of Ballymac Cashout who’s only previous form in Ireland was a 28.87 trial in Limerick, he recorded a 2nd FTOD of 29.58 over the 500m distance at Towcester. Bought by a new syndicate, he has joined the kennels of Maxine Locke with the £20,000 PGR Monmore Puppy Derby already spoken of as a long-term aim.º

Fastest of the day was Dusty Chief who clocked 29.51 ahead of kennel-mate Da Cornetto (sold for £4,000). A March 2022 with winning form at SPK, his reserve of £5,000 was not met on the day and subsequently he went unsold.

One that did sell from the famed Townview kennels of the Matthews family however was Memoir. A December 2022 daughter of Unlock Unlock, she was sold to the Northern-based Allan Power for £8,000 after her 29.61 trial winning performance on the day.

Other notable sales on the day included Unlock Queen (£5,300), Bloody Flawless (£5,000) and Magical Jacob (£4,000).

The next UK sales will be hosted by Premier Greyhound Sales at Hove on Monday, October 14.

Two days until the Coral Puppy Cup Final

It is a strong card at Romford on Friday evening with the £10,000 final at 9.11.

It is a tight-knit contest for the final with it all on the break. Connections of all six will think they have a chance of lifting the cup if things fall their way. We all know that with pups, anything is possible!

Joe’s Wednesday Tips

***9.04 Yarmouth – Droopys Prymtime
**6.53 Romford – Fabulous Silence
*8.54 Romford – Pearlthepug

Two winners and a second on Tuesday see us head into another night of graded bets in good form.

The nap of the evening runs in the 9.04, an A1 at Yarmouth. Trap one Droopys Prymtime finds himself well drawn on the inside in a race with plenty of early pace in it. If Droopys Prytime can hold Chelms Bob to the first bend I would expect him to have too much coming home for the likes of Laugh Alot and Good Steel. He has been in with the best dogs on the track recently, including East Anglian Derby Finalist Murrow Inkosi and Ballymac Zoomey, so this is a fair drop in class for Droopys Prymtime.

The next best runs in the 6.53 at Romford and is trap four Fabulous Silence in A2 company. Before seasonal rest Fabulous Silence was breaking the 24.00 barrier in open race company and since being back on the card has won in this grade in 24.25. She goes in A2 again having ran behind Bacon Roll in an open race last week. This wouldn’t be the strongest of A2s so if doing things right, she should return to winning ways this evening.

The value bet for the evening is Pearlthepug in a four dog A3 a Romford at 8.54. She is well drawn in trap one in a race that wouldn’t be blessed with early speed. If she can come away and lead at the first bend I would be surprised if Pearlthepug were to be caught and again its another race that looks a drop in class for our selection so she is the value bet for the evening.
