Northern Irish runner Catherines Drico was a comfortable winner of the Paddy Power Fair Warrior Stakes Final over 400 yards at Mullingar on Sunday.

Ronnie McKeown’s son of Catherines Joker was soon clear and came home three lengths clear of Afro Jack in 21.36sec. The favourite Slade Paddy, whose 21.23sec set the fastest time of the year in the heats, finished third.

Catherines Drico must be a candidate for Irish Sprinter of the Year after also landing the Peggy Kelly’s Islandbridge Sprint at Harolds Cross and was third in the Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk.

He also scored on Irish Derby Final night in a fast time.
