The disqualification of Blissful Daisy at Peterborough a couple of years ago still rankles with Pelaw Grange trainer Ron Grey, but he is taking some compensation from her first litter of youngsters by the 2009 Select winner Windy Millar, who stands at Grey’s kennel in Cleveland, now coming onto the track.
And Friday night’s meeting at Drum Road saw two of the May 2014 youngsters combine to give him a welcome double. Windy Ridge (5-2) got the party started when he won an A7 easily in 26.88 for the 435 metres and the twosome was complete forty minutes later when sibling Windy Santos (3-1) forced a dead-heat with Fog Onthe Tyne in an A5 with a determined finish, the pair clocking 26.70
It was another super Sunday for Steve Carrington at Kinsley where the Goole-based trainer pulled off a 4,605-1 five timer. The spree started with a 6-1 success from Springfield Hen and that was followed with wins from Ferneys Gift (9-4), Swift Grenfell (4-1), Slipalong Daisy (7-2) and Hillview Alter (8-1).
