Connections of Ballymac Taylor and Bubbly Inferno have agreed a match race over 925 metres at Romford.

The event will take place on Friday October 27 with each side putting up £1,000 and the stadium adding a similar amount.

Speaking on behalf of the Champagne Club, Steve Fluin acknowledged that the idea came about following a lack of opportunities for marathon runners but stressed that it was very much a ‘sporting’ contest between his syndicate and the MWD Partnership who own Ballymac Taylor.

Fluin said: “100% friendly…I love match races”

It promises to be an intruiging contest. Neither greyhound has raced in excess of 900 metres before though Taylor has the fastest run of the year over Monmore’s 900 metres while Inferno went event quicker than TV Trophy winner Belmore Sally over the Crayford 874m trip.
