Do It For Twiggy was the second consecutive local winner of the Totepool East Anglian Greyhound Derby Final over 462 metres at Yarmouth on Wednesday writes Jason Craddock.

Mark Wallis’s Calco Flyer led to the turn but was passed by Southfield Jock who went four lengths clear.

Erica Samuel’s Do It For Twiggy went second entering the back straight and started to close on the leader from the third turn. The 13-8 favourite railing tightly got up in the shadow of the post to score by three quarters of a length in 27.82sec. Calco Flyer was third.

Samuals said: “It was wonderful. It was a team effort from the family and the owners to get this dog ready for this race. He ran a brilliant race to come from behind Southfield Jock.

Her son said: “We fancied him from the start and I told everyone to back him at the 50-1 on offer.”

Kilara Razz (3-1) was successful in the Totejackpot Available on all Sky Meetings Stakes over 462 metres.

David Pruhs’ runner was led to halfway by Clondoty Alex but he went past and went on to score by three and a half lengths in 28.06sec.

Soviet Paddy overcame a moderate break to land the Toteplacepot Available on all Sky Meetings Stakes over 277 metres.

Aulton Buddy led to the last turn but John Mullins’ dog, who ran a great bend, hit the front on the home straight to score by a length and a half in 16.74sec.

Bubbly Time was an easy winner of the Toteplacepot Available on all RPTV Meetings Stakes over 843 metres.

Tony Gifkins’ runner was led for one lap by Oneco Mellissa but she went past to eventually beat a running on Ribble Atom by almost five lengths in 53.80sec.

Assistant trainer Lee Gifkins said afterwards: “She ran a great race without seeing the track. All tracks seem to come alike to her. We’ll take her to Crayford for the Kent St Leger, Boxing Day Marathon and Golden Jacket and also run her in any Sky marathons.”

Head For Gold was a fortunate winner of the Follow @MickLivesey For Totepool Tips Stakes over 659 metres.

The local runner was last entering the bend but there was a big coming together with the leaders, including the fancied Chicago, and Head for Gold got a dream run through and he went on to beat Oneco Sky by two lengths in 41.31sec.

A kennel spokesman said afterwards: “He loves it round her and although he’s won at Henlow I think he’s more effective at Yarmouth.”

Champion Stakes runner-up Franks Dream went one better in the Totepool Supporting Greyhound Racing Stakes over 462 metres.

Hazel Kemp’s bitch flew out of the boxes and went on to hold Droopys Scion by half a length in 28.24sec.

Kemp said afterwards: “She’s running at the top of her form and we may take her for the Kent Derby at Sittingbourne next.”

My Mate Max gave John Mullins a double in the Totepoolliveinfo.com EA Derby Invitation Stakes over 462 metres.

The 4-1 shot flew out of the boxes and made the bend in front of main danger Southern Mesut and went on to beat Astra Prince by almost two lengths in 27.98sec.

Mullins said afterwards: “He’s a half- brother to Swift Keith and a difficult dog to pick up when he leads.”

Mullins completed a treble with Borna Champ in the Derby Purse Final over 659 metres.

The son of Head Bound came from last to first to pick up Romany Rouge and score by almost two lengths in 41.27sec.

Mullins said: “He’s so exciting to watch, especially around here over four bends. He looked to have no chance but he just changes gear.

“This was the only big race at Yarmouth I hadn’t won so it’s great to complete the set.”

Unique Wishes was a trap to line winner of the John Smith Sprint Grand Final over 277 metres.

Max Alden’s runner was blasted out of the traps and held the persistent Montis Buster by three quarters of a length in 16.78sec.
