Following another dazzling display of tipping at PGR Judgement Night, Perry Barr Racing Manager Martin Seal has assessed the four first round heats of the ARC Laurels first round which gets underway this evening.

Martin said: “Four first round heats of the 2023 edition of the Cat 1 Arena Racing Company Laurels, and although the event was undersubscribed, there is plenty of quality on display. Arkady comes into the event in tip top form, having won the RPGTV Juvenile at Towcester earlier this month, and followed up in workmanlike fashion at the Northants venue a week later. Dave Mullins’ blue brindle posted 15.91 in a sprint trial here last September, and that was despite stumbling at the start. Reigning Birmingham Cup champion Ivanexile has been working his way back to full fitness following a winter layoff, and although his two bend efforts have been of a good standard, it’s worth noting this will be his first four bend race since the Kent Derby semis last October. Bambis Magic performed heroics when running up in the aforementioned Birmingham Cup Final, and is another who has raced sparingly over the winter, with just four races under his belt this year, the last two of which have been sprint opens. Roxys Bullet wasted no time in reaching top grade at home track Yarmouth, and a recent 23.73 Romford success shows exactly what this fella is capable of.” Sel: 4-6-3

Martin said: “Coolavanny Shado’s reputation took a bit of a dent with a slightly lacklustre display in a supporting open on Judgement Night, but that was his first outing for three weeks, and Patrick Janssens’ track record holder is expected to resume normal service sooner rather than later. Signet Goofy gave his rivals a running lesson in the Judgement Night Standard, and it is difficult to oppose the flying brindle in his current mood. Burnchurch Mick has been a wonderful servant for connections, but will need to be on his toes at the start with early pace everywhere one looks. John Lambe is getting a fine tune out of Mystical Mario at present, and although this is a step up on the company he has been facing of late, the heavyweight black is going for five in a row. Stevie Knows plied his trade over two bends in Ireland, but is just about ungradeable at home track Sheffield at present, and a couple of trial spins have shown Barrie Draper’s charge in a good light. Trap 6 doesn’t look too bad at all with Lynnwood Assin likely to be edging left.” Sel: 4-3-1

Martin said: “When a pup clocks 28.26 here in his first four bend trial, it’s pretty clear you’ve seen something special, but Hurry Up Jordan had already dropped a couple of hints that he was going to be something out of the ordinary. Brought along patiently by John Lambe, the heavyweight black has run away from his rivals in his two most recent outings, and it is now time to take on the big boys. Hawkfield Ozark has developed into an extremely reliable performer, showing a particular affinity for Monmore, and his all round consistency will give him a chance in whatever races he takes part. Barley Panther has done well at home track Oxford, but might just be seen to better effect slightly off the fence. Six months ago, Bit View Mikey was winning an A2 at Nottingham, but Robert Hall’s charge has improved for the switch in kennels, showing a distinct liking for the Perry Barr circuit. Greenhill Evie is tried from a middle berth here, and has the early gears to turn handy.”
Sel: 2-6-5

Martin said: “Goldies Perryman has won at no less than five different tracks in his career, which started out in graded company at Towcester, but Paul Foster’s star relishes a challenge, and seems to be getting better with age for his loyal band of supporters. Swift Iconic boasts some serious early gears, and John Mullins’ brindle will look to stretch this field out before halfway. Outdoor Ice is another who is expected to be in the front rank on the run to the first bend, and wasn’t disgraced when set a tough task on Judgement Night. Supa Nova has long since left the Yarmouth top grade, where the opposition was regularly thrashed, and Paul Burr’s star is now a respected opponent on his travels. The trap 6 runner boasts a terrific attitude, and is a great advert for his sire Eden The Kid.” Sel: 2-1-6
