There are 34 slots still available for the first round of the PGR Eclipse which closes to entries at 11am on Friday with the first round next Monday.

The three run event carries a record £20,000 first prize.

The first two entries in the book are Blackhouse Harry and Droopys Soldier, though judging by Monday’s trial session, there won’t be a shortage of quality.

On a promising night for trainer Patrick Janssens, quickest on the night was the Perry Barr track record holder Coolavanny Shadow with a 29.60 run off a flying 4.89 sectional.

Kennelmate and Oaks winner Slick Sakina recorded 30.13 while Bockos Palace, third in the recent Barrys 600 at Shelbourne Park, clocked 29.67.

As a useful refrerence, veteran track specialist Churchill Holly clocked 30.09, nine spots slower than when landing an open the previous Monday.

Sheffield 480 track record holder Nolas Beauty did 30.01 with Kent Derby winner Arkady producing a slightly disappointing 30.14.

In the subsequent meeting, local A1 grader Avongate Ross (29.77) clocked the fastest time of the night with the two Eclipse Trialstakes going to Seven Outta Ten (29.86) and Distant Podge (30.05),
