Raha Mofo is the toast of Ireland this morning having landed the Irish Oaks on Saturday night. Murt Leahy’s pups has shown great consistency to go with the quality having five wins and two seconds in her last seven races; the last three Shelbourne wins coming between 28.14-28.16.

Remarkably she was beaten in six consecutive races earlier in the year including an A4 defeat at 3-1 at Shelbourne as recently as April.

Saturday’s Dublin meeting also featured a new fastest time for the Irish Derby course this year with Hoodoo Brown and the wonderful sight 2020 TV Trophy finalist Roxholme Kristof landing a 750 in the third fastest clock of the year. All of this following what appeared to be a race ending injury. The Sheffield 480m track record holder hadn’t troubled the judge since landing a St.Leger semi 19 months ago.

Fabulous effort from Martin Lanney!

The Holland Kennel might have missed out in the Produce Stakes when short priced Swords Rex was turned over but they bounced back with Bockos Budsit winning the €15K Race Of Champions at Tralee on Friday night. A good time too, only Tullig Cyrname (29.39) has gone quicker this year.

Meanwhile at Limerick on Saturday, the Dublin sprint record holder Gizmo Cash went to within nine spots of the 350 track record in the semi finals of the Treaty Cup.

Look out too for the fastest sprint of the year to date at Newbridge for Johnnie Fingers and a couple of September youngsters making their debuts in an unraced stake at Cork, Ballymac Joey and Velasco who both won, Joey being marginally the quicker. Think we might be hearing more about this pair if breeding is anything to go on!
