The Greyhound Board of Great Britain is delighted to announce the K.S.S Syndicate as Coral Owners of the Year for 2021 – for the seventh time.

The syndicate, led by Brendan Keogh, adds to their successes in 2014 and 2015, and each year from 2017 onwards. Their team of greyhounds, trained by Liz and Rab McNair from their base in Ashford, Kent, amassed 501 points, finishing ahead of Amanda Jeal (333) and the Ayamzaboys Syndicate (297).

The Owner of the Year is awarded to the owner or owners whose greyhounds have collected the highest number of points based on a scale recognising the number of the competition finals reached – and won – and the prestige of those competitions.

Havana Class, an 11-time winner in 2021, top scored for the McNair/KSS Syndicate owner-trainer combination after victory in the Arc Laurels at Perry Barr as well as finishing second in the M Lambe Birmingham Cup to Candy Man over the same C&D.

Individually, Havana Class scored 143 points, while Warzone Tom matched his kennelmate in terms of Category One success with victory in the Ladbrokes Gold Collar at Crayford. He accumulated 108 points with 13 open-race successes during the year.

The McNairs’ British-bred stars also played their part with the offspring of prolific dam Skate On again to the fore, although Queen Asia’s progeny also contributed with King Louis (95pts) triumphant in the British Breeders Stakes Final at Nottingham.

On the same night at the Colwick Park, King Sam, a son of Skate On, won the BGBF British Bred Midland Sprint Trophy, while other major points scorers for the kennel were Queen Dolly (33pts), King Bruno (33pts) and Queen Lilly (28pts).

Scott Harvey, GBGB Racing Operations Executive said: “It’s another magnificent achievement from Brendan and Simon (Senyk) and, of course, Rab and Liz (McNair).

“They have been the dominant owner and trainer combination for many years now, although well done also to Nic and Amanda (Jeal) and the Ayamzaboys Syndicate, led so well by two superb greyhound enthusiasts in Nigel (Smith) and Mitch (Brenner).

“But once again the KSS Syndicate have led the way and their greyhounds continue to do them proud. They have been leading players in the British-bred scene for many years now but have also sourced top-class runners from Ireland. It’s proved a wonderful mix.

“So, it’s not just about congratulating the Kings and Queens they have bred, but also the Havanas and the Warzones, too! Well done to all.”

Commenting on the win, Brendan Keogh said:  “We are absolutely delighted, and again a huge thanks to Rab and Liz for all their hard work. “I know it’s only May, but we are already looking forward to next year as we have some super pups by Droopys Sydney to Queen Beyonce and Queen Jessiej on the ground. They all look top notch.”
