Work is on schedule at Oxford with Director of Racing James Chalkley is confident that the venue will be ready for GBGB inspection at some stage next month.

300 tons of fresh sand were delivered today. Meanwhile scaffolding is up at the front of the grandstand to prepare for new lighting, while the biggest project, the rebuilding of the kennels, has also commenced.

James said: “There is another 100 tons of sand due to be delivered and possibly another five weeks to be spent on the kennels. They will all be completely refurbished, working to the original numbers of around 120.

“Although there will inevitably be unforeseen problems, we aren’t anticipating anything major, so the April licensing and trialing in May still looks very achievable. In terms of trainers, we are in a very good position.”

Work was delayed in the kennel rebuild. This is week two of a six week project
