Colin Handford’s Master Roo pulled off a small upset when winning the first semi final of the National Sprint at Nottingham in 1787. He qualified through to next week’s final along with Paul Donovan’s Tintreach Jet who finished a length second in a trouble marred race which saw an unfortunate first bend fall for Angela Harrison’s odds on favourite Coolavanny Galviv.
David Mullins Shrewd Call ran out a facile 6 1/4 length winner of the second semi final in 1774 over Patricia Cowdrill’s Skipalong Sarge.
The third semi final saw Pat Janssens Crossfield Dusty winning in a fastest time of the night 1764 but Tom Heilbron’s Freedom Whiskey kept the winner up to his work finishing just a length behind.
The draw for next weeks final was made on track after the semi finals were completed and is shown below –
