Eight dogs and six bitches, all of which survived, are the stand-out litter registered with the Greyhound Stud Book for 2021 to date.

The incredible family of 14 were whelped down by Seamus and Teresa Cahill. They are by the highly sought after young sire Good News out of the kennel’s former Brighton Belle winner Banabane.

Seamus said: “It was pretty tough going at the beginning, but our local vet said he had never seen a litter of 14 pups survive before.

“They’ve just gone off to Ireland to be reared by our old friends Liam O’Donovan and his brother in law Richie Kearns from Kilkenny who always do such a great job.”

No truer word spoken. The dam’s previous litter, by Droopys Sydney, included English Puppy Derby winner, Surprising plus the brilliant Pocket Lola who has won 11 of her 13 races.

In fact, 11 of the 12 pups in the litter have won races, the exception being a dog pup who was injured before he got to the track.

The table shows that breeders have queued to use the 2019 Greyhound of the Year Ice On Fire who has 11 litters registered whelped since January, his first three litters were whelped in late 2020.

There is tremendous quality among the 62 litters registered including dams of the calibre of Rubys Razzle, Skilful Sandie, Queen Anna, Magical Vera, Chopchop Hope, Drive On Betsy, Shellam Maeby, Maysthistlecrack, Acomb Ruby, Westmead Lola, Supa Woman, Rackethall Jess, Piemans Jet, Pink Osteria, the list goes on and on! (Apologies to those we missed).

Have you EVER seen a greater depth of quality among such a small group of litters?
