Organisers are looking for support for the annual Golf Day in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity which will take place on Wednesday September 15.
Organiser and former trainer Maurice Newman has built the event to become a great day out, in addition to its prime aim of raising money for this extremely worthy cause. The details are as follows:
GOLF
Golf will be organised in teams of 4 @ £50 per head and to enter a team or pair, please call Beth at the club on 01708 381108.
We recommend booking early as there are only capacity for 30 teams and we expect the demand to be strong.
Hospitality for both players and sponsors will include all day tea/coffee, breakfast roll from 08:30, mid-course refreshments plus a great 2 course lunch. There will also be a fundraising raffle and auction.

SPONSORSHIP/DONATIONS
We propose to offer commercial sponsorship opportunities at each of the 18 holes @ £500 each. Alternatively, there is an option for sponsors to advertise on/near the main club house entrance as per last year’s event. Adverts can be displayed for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the event. Sponsors will also benefit from their inclusion in a YouTube video of the event.

Note that companies are usually entitled to tax relief on qualifying payments made to charities. Also note that tax payers personal ‘gift aided’ donations are immediately uplifted by 25% by HMRC, and higher rate tax payers can also claim an additional 20% relief in their individual annual tax returns. So, for example, a £1,000 personal donation is worth £1,250 to GOSH but only costs a higher rate tax payer £800.
Sponsor payments can be made:
- Usually by cheque payable to “Great Ormond Street’s Hospital Children’s Charity” and sent to Beth Walpole at Stapleford Abbotts Golf Club, Horsemanside, Tysea Hill, Romford, Essex, RM4 1JU, or
- By Bank Transfer to GOSHCC, Account No: 23181676, Sort Code: 15-10-00, Payment Ref: C34250, or
- By JustGiving website at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/maurice-newmangolfday2020.
If you have any sponsorship queries, please contact Maurice Newman on 07932 021791 or John Fox on 07740 454763.
We also welcome your support for any donations, raffle prizes and auction items. I also attach a flyer for the event. Overall, it promises to be a memorable day, and your support is very much welcomed and appreciated. As Maurice says “GOSH saves kids’ lives!“
