Towcester staged an evening trial session to demonstrate their new improved track lighting.
Dave Boothby, brother of promoter Kevin, said: “Only 20 of the 70 lights that we inherited were in working order, and they weren’t anywhere as good as the new ones. In fact, we are still missing a couple, with a couple of the bulbs having failed. But the replacements are on their way from America.
“Although the lights are new, they have been positioned in precisely the same places and angles as the previous set and there are no shadows anywhere.”
Work will continue with astroturfing the outside of the circuit within the next few days and a planning application has been lodged to allow the building of advertising boards on the outside of the track.”
