Sunfire Shelly (R11 T2) Barry Denbys bitch is in great form and though the step back to the 480m boxes is a small concern I fancy she’ll have too much for tonight’s rivals with any kind of break £100 win

Last Friday was the equivalent of 2020. We will be putting a line through it and starting again.

Swift Tarquin (R12 T1) Got to wait for the last to get the money tonight, so don’t so it all in before. Swift Tarquin is a dog that goes in and out of form more noticeably than others, has that ping from the boxes, not the quickest for middle, but certainly stays well enough.
I’m happy to follow it up after the latest win to go in again and wouldn’t put people off betting him antepost. But the compilers have priced him right (If he were to reach the final – it would be is 99th race – Ed) £100 win

We have two runners in the Puppy Cup and five in the Champion Stakes. Overall, compared to the Coronation Cup and Essex Vase, the Champion Stakes is slightly down on quality, though they were both exceptional. Looking at our runners, Our Lucky Lee (R4) was absolutely mullered last time out. You can put a line through that line of form, though the draw isn’t great. Among the Champion Stakes runners, Sober Express (R7) seems much happier when he is drawn closer to the rail and doesn’t really need Desperado Dan coming across him. Jaxx Purple (R9) is being tipped in the Racing Post as big priced ante post runner, and is a reasonable price. She could win tonight but is up against the ante post favourite. Tiffield Maximus and Antigua Vows are both in the last heat. Maximus is really between distances over 575, and Vows is still coming back after a lay-off. So for my selections, I will be going for a new puppy Antigua Bruiser (R2 T5) who is up against the favourite for the competition. I am not convinced that this is his ideal trip, and he will be off to Central Park for Nic Jeal’s Young Guns competition next, but he is a nice pup and worth an interest £40 win.
I am also going for Ivy Hill Skyhigh (R11 T3) who is our best chance of winning the competition. He should be a decent price. £60 win.
I am a bit disappointed that there are only the 12 races tonight. We have Aayamza Royale and Antigua Fire who would have been available for either a 750 or 925 race. There are so few opportunities around for stayers as we wait for the Cesarewitch.
