Trying to avoid quiz fatigue, we are trying to drag them out a little bit at this stage.

As usual, we kick off with the result of the last competition, but first a query over one of the questions concerning Brickfield Class as the leading open race winner of 2007. We asked for the identity of the trainer. Monica Adams wrote:

“Brickfield Class trained by the lovely Bob Gilling, was not the winning most greyhound in 2007. As Bob will confirm sadly, Blonde Jet out pointed him by  one win. Jet was out of my bitch Lady Lynch. I was so impressed with Brickfield Class that I wanted to use him at stud on her, but Bob had retired him before that could be organised.
Jet and Class, two top class performers who battled gamely to the wire that year. “

Thanks to Monica, though we are struggling to reconcile the figures. We have Brickfield Class with 23 wins and Blonde Jet with 17, though we are certainly not claiming that our stats are infallible. Will be more than happy to rectify given additional evidence.

Anyway – last Thursday: The main picture was from Pelaw Grange.

Bob Gilling was the trainer of Brickfield Class

The elegant lady with Magourna Reject was Mrs Frances Chandler

The young trainer in the silly wooly hat was Graham Holland

Greenwood Flyer was pictured winning the semi final of the 1998 English Derby for which she was disqualified for fighting.

Moving onto today’s quiz . . .

Find a cracking Steve Nash pic – this one is from 2005 – and then make up some clues to justify using it. This brindle was trained by Owen McKenna, won an Irish Laurels and Kilkenny Derby. His progeny included Brickfield Class, Brickfield Dream, Boherduff Monti (!!) and Duck Fat (dam of Rural Hawaii).

A legend from the Manchester Evening News who was the Star’s Northern correspondent in the Greyhound Star newspaper.

Long gone, but an outstanding Derby winning trainer with an exceptional family

But for Ballyregan Bob, would probably have been the 1986 Greyhound of the Year after winning a Scurry and Laurels. He also went to Ireland and landed the Dundalk International. Pictured with owner trainer Colin Packham, name the white and blue star.

Can you work out which final this is? The starting point might be the race distances!
