Ciara’s Fund Raiser
My name is Ciara Browne and I am 8 years old. My dad is a greyhound trainer at Henlow greyhound track. I have decided I would like to do a walk to raise money for the Greyhound Trust.
I decided to do this because when at school after raising money from cake sales through the year, I had to select a charity and I chose the GT, unfortunately my choice wasn’t supported.
I still wanted to raise funds for them as they have helped assist and home several of the greyhounds in our kennel and many more from other kennels.
I love walking and have decided to challenge myself to do approximately 10k from Corfe Castle to Ballard Down(nr Swanage) Dorset on the 21st February 2020.
My retired greyhound Oscar will be coming along with my mum and dad and anyone who would like to join us on our journey.
We kindly ask you consider sponsoring me and help raise money for the Greyhound trust so they can put it towards the homing of retired greyhounds as after all greyhounds make great pets ?
Thank you
Ciara and Oscar xx

Storm in retirement
I have read on line with interest the articles on rescue as opposed to retired in respect of ex-racing greyhounds.
Well, Storm from Peter Harnden’s kennels is what I would consider an ideal example of a hound which went from racing to an altogether different life style, adopted from Crossing Cottages Sutton on Trent Nottinghamshire, she came into a home to be a pet, companion dog, we realised very quickly that she was an exceptional Hound, laid back and calm except in the presence of cats.

I personally prefer the term retired in respect of Greyhounds as they have had a job and irrespective of weather they go on to another with their new carers or just become a pet they do not seem to have been rescued from anything.
Thank you to Peter Harnden for a super Hound and Greyhound Trust for the companionship and fun we have all had , whilst talking Hounds and fund raising.
Yours, Chris, & Christine Smith and of course Storm
