Satin Mark certainly made his mark on his debut for Stockton-based local trainer Trevor Jameson in the second heat of the Pinpoint Recruitment Trophy at Pelaw Grange on Sunday.
A recent import from Ireland, the April 2013 son of Ace Hi Rumble and Kingsmill Athena survived some early scrimmaging to gain a handy position going down the back straight and then delivered a powerful challenge off the final turn that carried him to a length and a half victory over Fagans Bollero in 25.88 for the 435 metres on +10 going.
The first heat saw Bit View Turbo recover from a sluggish start and weave his way through the field to deliver a late challenge that proved too much for Lanody Mill by threequarters of a length in 26.06.
The meeting also featured the semi-finals of the BMW Windows Handicap where Shellam Smash made full use of his ten metre mark and early trouble behind him to breeze home eleven and a half lengths clear of Black Teak in a calculated 26.99 for the 435 metres in the opening semi, while De Fat Farrier, off six in the second, pulled in the front-marker Briar Lane Bell by the first time and went on to record a three-length success over Spiders Web in 26.56.
