GBGB Press Statement re: City of London Police – Investigation Discontinuance
The City of London Police Economic Crime Directorate has today announced that its investigation into allegations made by the Greyhound Trainers Association against the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) has been discontinued and that no further action will be taken.
A letter from the City of London Police stated:
“Following an extensive investigation and a review of all the material a decision has been made that no further action will be taken with regards to this matter. As a result, we will be discontinuing this investigation into GBGB and all members alleged.”
GBGB Managing Director Mark Bird said:
“We welcome the conclusion of this investigation and are pleased that the police rightly found that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing by the Board. For well over two years a minority of self-appointed critics of the GBGB have, under the auspices of this investigation, sought to undermine the integrity of the Board and the wider greyhound industry. As the regulator for licensed greyhound racing in this country and with the Board committed as to its future prosperity, we take very seriously our responsibility to safeguard the integrity of our sport and the police’s conclusion reflects this.”
