Norah McEllistrim’s kennel is in quarantine after a greyhound was taken ill earlier today with symptoms similar to those which led to the recent death of a greyhound in Claude Gardiner’s kennel. Norah’s seven runners have been withdrawn from tomorrow’s Hove card.

Ladbroke Coral stadium controller Ian Smyth said: “The dog was taken ill earlier today with symptoms of CHP but has apparently improved throughout the day. Obviously it was wise to quarantine the kennel as a precaution. At this stage, that will continue until Friday, which is when Claude’s kennel was due to have its quarantine lifted. Certainly there would have been a much greater concern had it been a second kennel at Alborne.

“At this stage, it will not affect racing plans with reserves coming in for Norah’s runners where possible.”
