A dramatic return to form of Droopys Buick, the elimination of kennelmate Droopys Country and Forest Con were the main headlines from the Ladbrokes Gold Cup semi finals at Monmore on Thursday.
Contesting his 50th race, the 2016 Greyhound of the Year was on his worst ever run of form – four defeats – but looked back to his glorious best with a 27.77 run, just one spot slower than the fastest time of the year in 2016, recorded by one, Droopys Buick. Runner-up Forest Chunk goes into the final as the second fastest qualifier.
The Other Reg landed the first qualifier in 28.15, just three spots quicker than brother The Other Ben who clocked a calculated 28.15 when short headed by Savana Donie (28.17)
