Donation winning the quickest semi – Tiger back to defend his title – A disastrous night for Weatherall. The three main talking points of the Coral Sussex Cup semi finals at Hove on Thursday.

Donation put herself into the prime slot to become the first female winner of the Coral Sussex Cup since Shelbourne Poopa in 2006 with another impressive display in the second semi final. The Heather Dimmock trained black made it seven wins in nine races in the second semi final. Her 29.58 (N) victory over King Kid was the fastest clocking over c&d in almost two years.

Versatile veteran Shaneboy Freddie reached his third ‘Cat 1’ final when landing the opening heat in 29.95. The third qualifier went the way of defending champ Barricane Tiger in 29.95 where Carol Weatherall’s Calico litter brothers Ranger and Brandy were both eliminated with the latter KO’d.

Tiger, who won last year’s decider in the black jacketed, drew red for this year’s decider (below).
