Hall Green racing manager Rob Coulthard has no plans to advertise for a new trainer following the planned departure to Monmore of Stuart Buckland, though he would consider taking on a small trainer.

He said: “We are not desperate but Stuart had 30 dogs including quite a lot of wide runners so we may end up with a few five runner races.

“We all know the situation in relation to tracks being short and given the speculation over the future of Hall Green, how could I expect someone to leave a lucrative contract to come here?

“But I am not adverse to taking on a small kennel. Richard Whelan started off with two runners here and now has 22. Ross Williams travels from Wales with four or five dogs. I would certainly do my best to get all the dogs out on the same night.”

Coulthard has been delighted with the efforts of Hall Green’s Track Championship team following their recent treble at Perry Barr.

He said: “We had a treble, it is a shame that the other four couldn’t get more points between them. I am particularly delighted with the pup (Let Me Tell You) who has two wins and a second.

“He is a bang railer but has been trapping well from some bad draws. We also have Trapper Kate back to her best, with her sister Trapper Kerry on her way back. They were two great buys from the sales.

“We had to run Ballymac Bart (standard elite) without a trial because he had only just run his fifth graded race; though he will be trialling at Monmore.”
