Loughside Inn in race 3 at 8.02pm over 400 metres is definitely an interesting one. The July 14’ whelp trained by Daryl Whitton has only ever trialled and ran over the two bend trip including two races and three trials at Drumbo Park in Ireland. Does the son of Newinn Wonder and Sudden Lilly stay? Trainer Darren Whitton has the answers. “I’m not entirely sure he does stay but hope with his pace he gets on the bunny and can see what he can do. He has only had a half a dozen races and hope he can.
“You don’t know until you give it a try and Romford is the easiest four bend trip to step up to in the country. He is not the greatest dog at a track first time without a trial but does have a lot of pace to get in front.”
Nottingham based trainer Peter Harnden makes the journey to Essex with three runners and it is Salacres Francie in the lucky last at 10.40pm in the maiden marathon over 750 metres that is intriguing. The November 12’ whelp is fast approaching his fourth birthday and is aiming to win his first ever open race over eight bends. The son of Kinloch Brae and Federal Express won over the 575 metres trip recently in a calculated time of 35.96. Before making a final decision does he have enough in the tank to see out the longer trip? Assistant trainer Madeline Harden put the stamina fears to rest by saying “He can handle that trip well. He will have no problem with the distance.” Good to know.
