Yesterday, Greyhound Trader returned to Towcester as they hosted a sales trials ahead of the upcoming Puppy Derby and Puppy Oaks competitions at the Northamptonshire venue.
Trials started at approximately 10.30am and whilst there was a late surge of rain towards the latter of the trials, there were some impressive pups to follow who will more than likely be aimed at the aforementioned competitions.
Fastest greyhound of the day was Good Times, who recorded 29.68 when winning his trial be more than 12 lengths. A fabulous run for a February 2022 whelp by Good News and Jaytee Jade, he was purchased for £12,600 by Ged Costello who carries the ‘Plaza’ prefix which was adorned by former Nottingham Open runner Plaza Lep.
The famed John Kennedy breeding establishment also managed to produce the 2nd and 3rd fastest greyhounds of the day in Good Lilly (29.75) and Good Eclipse (29.89). Lilly sold for £3800 to owner Ben Owen of Craig Marston’s, whilst Eclipse made £1600 and will head south to join the ranks at Hove.
Tullig Toadette was a greyhound of particular interest to many before the sales, with the December 2021 son of Good News boasting a fantastic 28.66 run at Tralee on his Irish card. Just falling short of breaking the magic 30s barrier, he was purchased for £5200 by Carl Wheeler and has joined Jason Gray who will be hoping he has another Mickys Barrett on the end of the lead.
Other sales to note include Magical Drew (£5800), Wink And Nod (£5000) and Tommys Roisin (£4900).
All in all, there was a total sales turnover of £96,000 exactly at a sales success rate of 90%.
